Mt. Shasta, along with the rest of Siskiyou County, may very well be the state of California’s best kept secret. It’s been named Strawberry Valley, Berryvale, Sisson and most recently Mt. Shasta. What has always been constant is the town’s natural beauty. Mt. Shasta is definitely an outdoor person’s paradise. In this place it’s all about nature. Located at the foot of the mountain, the town is small, quaint and historic. It seems that visitors and newcomers are not only taken with the beauty of the surrounding landscape, but also impressed with the town’s genuine community spirit. Our residents, new or native, work hard to maintain this community spirit. If you have kids our local schools are ranked among the best in the state. If you are interested in outdoor activities, you don’t have far to go to enjoy four seasons of recreation including; fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, camping, boating, golf and skiing. If you are looking to be near unequal recreational opportunities, raise kids, or retire............. Mt. Shasta is your new home!

We are very proud of our local schools here in Mt. Shasta. There are two outstanding school districts in Mt. Shasta one of which is Mt. Shasta Union School District, a small rural K through 8th grade that consists of Mt. Shasta Elementary (K-3rd) with approximately 250 students and Sisson Elementary (4th-8th) with approximately 370 students. The second school district is the Siskiyou Union High School District with approximately 420 students (9th-12th).
Every year to celebrate the 4th of July our town puts together a fun walk and running race with lots of great food, entertainment and a street fair. Come join us for a spectacular 4th of July celebration! There are many outdoor activities in the area as well. In the winter months our local Mt. Shasta Board and Ski Park is open for all your winter sports and it’s never too crowded! Our area is known for its endless fishing opportunities; river fishing on the Sacramento or McCloud Rivers, lake fishing on the nearby Lake Siskiyou, Castle Lake, Gumboot Lake, McCloud Reservoir and Lake Shastina. The choice is yours! |
